Ricochet currently charges a fee of 2%. I know of several people not using the Exchange (except for trials and RIC rolling) because of the fees being too high; some even made the effort to set up a custom scripting solution to replicate the functionality.
I think having the fee at 2% is detrimental to growth and should thus be changed. There's a point to be made for keeping it high in order to have more opportunity to play with discounts etc. That's why I wouldn't be disappointed about this proposal being rejected, given that it leads to a discussion about the issue and to adoption of an alternative proposal achieving the same goal. Example for such an alternative solution: the 2% fee (or at least the major part of it) is converted into RIC. The problem with the current on/off-switching of RIC incentives is that it doesn't encourage users to set up and forget a stream, because they have to assume that if they don't monitor it, eventually the incentives may run out with them end up paying a fee they don't find acceptable.
In this proposal I suggest to reduce the fee to 0.5% (feels like the upper end of what's acceptable to me) and hope that an alternative achieving the goal is found in case the proposal is rejected.
