Reduce GMC membership from 9 to 7 (RPIP-76)

Voting ended 2 months agoSucceeded

Reduces the Grants and Bounties Management Committee (GMC) from nine (9) to seven (7) members, superseding RPIP-40 while keeping all other governance provisions unchanged.

Rationale

The Grants and Bounties Management Committee (GMC) was launched in October 2022 with seven (7) members and later expanded in January 2023 to nine (9) members to better distribute workload and facilitate subcommittees across application categories.

However, application volume has since declined, subcommittees are rarely used, and spending projections for the upcoming year are lower.

Reducing the GMC to seven members better reflects current workload and fiscal needs, while maintaining sufficient diversity and capacity for effective governance.

This proposal supersedes RPIP-40 but keeps all other procedures, responsibilities, and governance provisions the same.

Outcome if Positive

• The GMC will be reduced from nine to seven members.

Outcome if Negative

• The current GMC size of nine members will remain in place under RPIP-40.
