Ecosystem Development Budget Allocation #2

Voting ended 6 months agoSucceeded

Requesting Organization: Roko Network Corp Grant Amount: $65,000 equivalent in TAO Proposal Date: September 2025

Executive Summary

This proposal seeks approval for a $65,000 equivalent allocation in TAO from the Roko Network Foundation’s cold storage root staking wallet to Roko Network Corp. The funds will sustain ecosystem development, ensuring Layer 1 (L1) engineering continuity, ecosystem infrastructure, and hardware-level validation for fair and transparent computation measurement.

The Development Report and Future Roadmap highlights that Roko’s temporal architecture is now production-ready at the transaction and block level. The next phase focuses on advancing consensus, hardware-secured time attestations, validator sampling, wallet integration, and security modeling. This budget ensures the L1 team can deliver those critical milestones while maintaining operational momentum.

Allocation Summary

Total Allocation Requested: $65,000 equivalent in TAO TAO Valuation: $340 (assumed for budget translation) Total TAO Allocated: ~192 TAO

Breakdown:

  • Core L1 Team Development: $60,000 (~177 TAO)
  • Website Redesign: $2,500 (~7 TAO)
  • Power Audit (A100 Server): $2,500 (~7 TAO)

Funding Breakdown

1. Core L1 Team Development — $60,000 (~177 TAO)

The $60k allocation will support four months of engineering dedicated to advancing Roko’s Layer 1, specifically around temporal consensus, runtime stability, hardware integration, and security.

Planned Goals & Deliverables (Month 1–4):

  • Month 1 — Hardware Attestation Prototype

    • Integrate Zymbit hardware (HSM/timecard) for tamper-resistant proof-of-time.
    • Define attestation format (certificate chain, hardware quotes, nonce binding).
    • Implement runtime verifier to handle hardware-backed attestations .
  • Month 2 — Consensus & Timecard Quorum

    • Introduce validator-level P2P gossip for timecard attestations.
    • Implement validator sampling and aggregation to form per-slot time quorums.
    • Wire quorum output into block production (pre-digest/inherent) to guarantee time correctness under consensus .
  • Month 3 — Miner Proof-of-Time (PoT)

    • Activate block-level PoT, requiring block authors to include valid hardware attestations.
    • Establish a certification authority (CA) phase to bootstrap trusted hardware participation.
    • Begin limited rollout of PoT enforcement in testnet environments .
  • Month 4 — Wallet & Security Layer

    • Deliver Roko Wallet alpha with TimeRPC client, hardware-backed signing, and preflight verification UX .
    • Conduct security reviews and threat modeling (clock drift, key compromise, CA trust).
    • Define slashing, fallback modes, and monitoring for validator integrity.
    • Prepare mainnet readiness criteria and economic analysis .

Impact: This funding ensures Roko Network can move from a working devnet prototype to a fully validated and consensus-integrated L1 with hardware-secured time attestations. The central outcome is L1 readiness for mainnet, with stronger guarantees of temporal correctness and operational reliability.

2. Website Redesign — $2,500 (~7 TAO)

Funding a research-led redesign of roko.network to present a clear, modern, and adaptable knowledge hub that communicates Roko’s mission, technical progress, and ecosystem resources.

3. Power Audit of A100 Server — $2,500 (~7 TAO)

An internal audit of Roko’s NVIDIA A100 development platform, using Timebeat and facility-grade telemetry, will:

  • Capture high-precision, time-stamped measurements of compute, GPU utilization, and energy draw.
  • Evaluate compute cycles at the smallest measurable unit.
  • Feed proofs into the L1 for accurate tokenization of computation resources, ensuring fairness and transparency for node runners .

Execution & Oversight

  • TAO Source: Foundation cold storage root staking wallet.
  • Disbursement: Converted to USDC as required.
  • Unused TAO: Retained by Roko Network Corp, restricted to approved scope.
  • Monitoring: Weekly progress reports aligned with dev milestones.

Voting Options

  • Yes: Approve the allocation of $65,000 equivalent in TAO from the Foundation’s root staking wallet to Roko Network Corp for ecosystem development and infrastructure initiatives as outlined.
  • No: Do not approve this proposal.
