This is a test proposal to familiarise you with the process of Approval Voting.
In an Approval Vote, you select all the candidates who you approve of. You can select any number of candidates.
When voting ends, the candidates will be ranked by the number of votes they have received. The top 4 candidates by vote count are declared the winners.
If there is a tie, a runoff election will be held to determine the winners among those who are tied. This process continues until all ties have been broken.
Suppose we want to elect 4 candidates, and the vote totals after the first round are as follows:
| Votes | Name |
|---|---|
| 20 | Alice |
| 18 | Bob |
| 5 | Charlie |
| 4 | Doris |
| 4 | Ed |
| 1 | Felix |
Then we select Alice, Bob, Charlie, Doris, and Ed as winners. But we only need to fill 4 seats, so we need Doris and Ed to participate in a runoff election to break the tie:
| Votes | Name |
|---|---|
| 14 | Doris |
| 8 | Ed |
Looks like Doris was the winner, and the final slate is Alice, Bob, Charlie, and Doris.
