Frax Core Team
This proposal discontinues Native OFT Token issuance for specific chains that are either officially deprecated by their core teams or have exhibited prolonged inactivity and minimal user adoption.
The affected deployments include Frax OFT assets such as frxUSD, sfrxUSD, frxETH, sfrxETH, FPI, and WFRAX.
Discontinuing support will simplify network operations, reduce risk exposure, and ensure efficient maintenance of the active Frax Mesh.
Over time, certain L1 and L2 networks have either:
Officially announced discontinuation or migrations to other ecosystems.
Shown sustained inactivity, with negligible bridging volume and user engagement.
Maintaining OFT support on these networks adds unnecessary monitoring, gas, and operational overhead while exposing Frax assets to non-essential cross-chain risk.
Discontinuing support allows Frax to focus resources and security audits on actively used networks such as Ethereum, Fraxtal, Base, Sonic, Sei, and Linea, which account for nearly all user activity and liquidity.
The Frax Core Team proposes discontinuing OFT bridge support for the following networks:
| Chain | Reason |
|---|---|
| Polygon zkEVM | Official shutdown announced |
| Blast | Minimal liquidity and user activity |
The standard timeline consists of two phases:
Governance proposal posted announcing the planned deprecation and affected Frax OFT tokens.
Users receive 60 Days to bridge funds to the chain to unwind or exit liquidity positions, and bridge back the Frax assets back to Fraxtal or other chains.
Sending from Deprecated Chain → Fraxtal is disabled.
Receiving on Fraxtal from Deprecated Chain is blocked.
Peer mappings on Fraxtal for the Deprecated Chain are reset.
All sends to/from the Deprecated Chain are now blocked, ensuring Frax assets on Fraxtal remain fully protected even if the remote chain is later compromised.
For: Approve the Deprecation for Frax OFT tokens on blockchain networks mentioned on proposal, with explained timeline.
Against: Do nothing.
