Due to a lack of structure and low engagement the process of collecting art goes slow and opportunities to buy amazing art pieces are missed.
Another problem is that our budget sits in the multisig and that we’re not able to buy stuff ourselves for that reason. This multisig-detour brings a lot of bureaucracy with it and is slowing down the whole curation process.
We suggest to modificate SIP-00031 as follows:
We already restructured the process of buying art with establishing a curation-core-group that votes on purchases and executes them. The current core group consists of:
→ Cryptasha
→ Joshua Fisher
→ Sasquatch
→ Ccarella
→ Marxistmillionaire 3/5 votes are needed to make a decision. The open character of Shark-Bait Curation (as mentioned in the original proposal) is preserved, and every Shark can still suggest something to buy. Establishing the curation-core-group has increased activity because the steps to buy a piece are clearer now and we want to keep it going this way. This structural change needs to be approved now.
The process of acquiring art would also be more efficient and less bureaucratic, if we’re able to buy stuff ourselves. We’re suggesting to set up a Prysm wallet with our curation budget for that reason. Prysm (https://www.prysm.xyz/) is a group ownership platform. Backed by Polychain and others, the team has built a simple interface that lets teams invest directly out of a multi signature wallet, a capability that we didn’t have before. The platform is built on top of the Gnosis SAFE protocol and integrates with other dApps like OpenSea or 0xProject to seamlessly facilitate on-chain transactions. Other DAOs like Friends with Benefits or GrailersDAO are using Prysm for similar purposes. With Prysm, we are be able to propose acquisitions, vote on them and make the purchase with much less effort and bureaucracy than right now. The criteria for a single purchase stays the same as in the original proposal. All members of the core group are signers. 3/5 signatures are needed to take action. We’d like to move 5 ETH to Prysm right now. Further transactions of the curation budget need to be discussed between the multisig-signers and curation-core. This change needs to be approved as well.
According to the original proposal we’re obligated to buy directly from the artist/ creator. But sometimes a collection is already sold out or an artist is too big to do an exclusive collaboration with Shark DAO. We’d like to change the wording as follows: “Purchases direct from the artist, if possible. When purchasing via secondary markets, overpaying and buying from flippers must be avoided.”
Zero cost. The 20 ETH budget has been allocated last october. 18,249 ETH are left.
