SIP #44
Problem statement
- New DAO members rarely stick around long enough to truly participate or contribute.
- The community is quite large, but not very active.
- Some of these issues can be solved with better processes, but we need someone whose consistent job is to manage the community instead of having one-off initiatives
Objectives and measures of success
- Improving the conversion of new members to contributors
- Increasing the retention of new members and their participation in the DAO through governance and DAO community calls
Scope of the community manager role
- Welcome new members into the community and help them find their way (for example through intros and calls)
- Organize/coordinate community-building initiatives with input and support from contributors
- Maintain healthy and active community spaces (e.g. Discord channels)
- Manage the onboarding process with input and support from contributors
Outside of scope
- The community manager should be a Discord moderator, but is not the only Discord moderator - all moderators are responsible for enforcing the code of conduct in the Discord
Proposal
- My proposal is to elect a community lead to the DAO on a season-by-season term (3 months).
- I nominate myself (@Catriona.Emily) to pilot this for 6 weeks, set-up new processes, and set things in motion
- After 6 weeks we can decide based on results if this is worth it for the long term
Cost
This is expected to be a part-time role and paid at 0.7 ETH per month. This proposal covers the first 6 weeks, so the cost is 1.05 ETH
Risks
We’re not able to improve the conversion and retention of new members.
