SHARKDAO GOVERNANCE V1

Voting ended over 4 years agoSucceeded

Purpose:

This proposal defines the steps a proposal takes to become a snapshot. Currently, anyone can make a snapshot proposal without community discussion, minimum voting times, and quorum.

Our goals:

  • Ensure our community has a chance to consider each proposal.
  • Keep processes light, so that anyone passionate about an idea can make a proposal.
  • Make adjustments to this proposal once we learn more about how it works.

Explanation:

There are three steps to a proposal.

I. Proposal Idea II. Discord Proposal III. Snapshot Vote

I) Proposal Idea: You should start discussing with other members to establish interest. One DAO member’s approval is enough. Yet we recommend that you be thorough and iron out most details.

II) Discord Proposal: In the appropriate Discord channel (currently #🗳-dao-proposals), you must post the proposal with the proper proposal template that includes:

  • Proposal title
  • Proposal purpose
  • Proposal explanation
  • At least one Pro
  • At least one Con
  • What voting YES would do
  • What voting NO would do

You must create a thread for the Discord proposal so that the community may scrutinize it. This will reveal more pros and cons and allow us to catch any missing sections. This post must be up for at least 24 hours.

III) Snapshot Proposal: After the 24 hours, if you decide to move forward, you or a fellow supporter will create a snapshot proposal.

This snapshot proposal's voting window must span at least 48 hour. It must must have an "abstain" option. We require a 30% quorum and a majority of voter approval to pass the proposal.

Pros:

  • Provides a defined pipeline for passing governance proposals.
  • Gives DAO members more time to vote as well as provide their own opinions and feedback.

Cons:

  • Slower governance means time sensitive issues can’t be as quickly addressed
  • We can't make any decisions if quorum is consistently missing.

Voting YES would:

  • Adopt these proposal rules that future proposals should follow.

Voting NO would:

  • Leave our proposal process undefined.
