SIP-6: Adopt new Sismo Governance Framework and Badge Curation Guidelines

Voting ended over 3 years agoSucceeded

Summary

This proposal establishes a new framework for Sismo Governance based on contribution ZK badges, a process for improvement proposals, and guidelines for badge curation.

Abstract

A new Sismo Governance framework is proposed to the community. It is comprised of:

  • New voting strategy based on “Sismo Contributor” ZK badge holders

The “Sismo Contributor” ZK badge can be minted by different types of contributors from the Sismo community (check governance documentation for details) and is comprised of 3 tiers assigned according to the significance of the minter contribution:

Tier 1 contributors: 1 voting point per proposal Tier 2 contributors: 50 voting points per proposal Tier 3 contributors: 500 voting points per proposal

  • Process for Sismo Improvement Proposals
  • Proposal Template
  • Badge Curation Guidelines

All details about the new framework can be consulted in the Governance Documentation.

Motivation

The complete rationale behind this new governance framework is detailed in this blog post.

TL;DR: Lots of new community-created badges are being deployed on Playground thanks to the Sismo Factory. The community will participate in the curation of badges that can be deployed in the main curated environment. The Sismo community will leverage its own ZK Badges to track the contribution of members and will allocate voting power accordingly. It will enable a less concentrated, more private, and more participative governance model to be iterated on in the future.

Specification

If accepted, all Sismo Improvement Proposals will need to:

  • Be voted on using the current “Sismo Contributor” ZK badge strategy
  • Follow the Sismo Governance Process and SIP template

and all ZK badges to be deployed on app.sismo.io should be compliant with the guidelines.
