This proposal is intended to define guidelines and ground rules for Skatehive DAO. If this proposal is approved, the content of this document will be published in Skatehive Docs and will serve as a standard path to follow when participating in Skatehive DAO.

Why Skatehive Governance?

Skatehive is a a community-driven project so there are no central entities taking decisions. Instead, the community decides the future of Skatehive through improvement and funds distribution proposals on Skatehive Snapshot.

Governance Token

The governance token of Skatehive community is the Skatehive OG NFT. Skatehive OG NFTs exist on Ethereum blockchain and they are tradeable, burnable and the first ever Skatehive NFT.

Skatehive OGs were aidropped to 37 core Skatehive contributors over the course of 3 months (July-October 2023) and the only way to get one right now is by buying it on Zora.

Skatehive OG Utility

Skatehive OG holders can participate in the decision making process of Skatehive community. This includes submitting and voting on Skatehive Snapshot proposals as well as participate in Governance Discussions in Skatehive Discord Server.

Skatehive Proposals

The future direction or Skatehive community is decided through proposals on Skatehive Snapshot. There's no limitation on what an OG holder can propose but here are some examples of proposals to help you have a more clear picture about the direction of the DAO.

  • Example: Mint 5 NFTs for BeagleXV
• Governance structure proposals
  • Example: Change the vote privacy to public

Voting and Submitting Proposals

Anyone holding a Skatehive OG NFT can vote on proposals as well as submit their own.

To vote on a proposal

• Go to Skatehive Snapshot and log in with the wallet holding your Skatehive OG NFT
• Find the proposal you wanna vote for and click on it
• Read all details, check community feedback in #✍-forum-skatehive and cast your vote

To submit a proposal

• Go to #✍-forum-skatehive and submit your proposal idea
  • Gnars internal proposals are exluded from this "rule" as there's already a dedicated thread for each Gnars proposal in their Discord
• Get community feedback
• After discussing your idea with the community you can go to Skatehive Snapshot, log in with the wallet holding your Skatehive OG NFT and click on "New Proposal"
• Check the Guidelines, fill the "Description" and don't forget to include a link of your proposal's #✍-forum-skatehive conversation at the "Discussion" box located at the bottom. When you're done click on "Continue"

At the next page

• Fill "Choices" with the words 'For' or 'Against' and set the date you want your proposal to go live. (Proposal voting lasts 2 days)
• Click on "Publish"

Snapshot Settings

Validation to create proposals : Must Have at least 1 SKTHV OG NFT

Max Voting Power per voter : 1000

Quorum: 400 VOTES (subjected to change through proposal)

Proposal passes when : More than 50% vote 'FOR' and votes surpass Quorum

Voting Power on Skatehive Snapshot

• Own a SKTHV OG NFT : 50 VOTES (MAX MINTS PER WALLET : 20)
• Own a Gnar NFT: 1 VOTE

As a thank you to @Gnars community for their support, we allow Gnars NFT holders to vote on Skatehive Snapshot proposals
