Support Vlad to Attend the Connect Urbanism Skate Festival

Voting ended 4 months agoSucceeded

TL;DR

Vlad is currently touring Europe — skating, creating, and building from sketchy bar Wi-Fis. Recently, he was invited to Leo Valls’ Connect Urbanism Skate Festival in Bordeaux, France.

This proposal seeks 300 USD from Skatehive Treasure to help cover travel, accommodation costs and stickers so Vlad can represent Skatehive, document the event, showcase the Nounstacle phenomenon, and spread awareness about Skatehive’s mission within the global skate and urbanism community.

About the Event

Connect is an international festival dedicated to skateboarding culture and its relationship with urban planning — celebrating its cultural, artistic, and architectural dimensions.

The first edition in Bordeaux features exhibitions, conferences, video premieres, workshops, concerts, skateable sculptures, and city sessions. It brings together skaters, academics, artists, and urban planners to highlight how skateboarding can positively shape cities worldwide.

Bordeaux’s story of skate-friendly urbanism, led by Leo Valls, mirrors the philosophy of I LOVE XV in Rio de Janeiro. Both movements explore how skateboarding can coexist with — and enhance — public spaces.

“The story of Leo Valls and Bordeaux is an unlikely one — where skaters, artists, lawmakers, and city officials collaborate to create a more skate-friendly city. But this is more than a story about one skater and one city — it’s about redefining skateboarding’s role in the city of the future.”

— DC SHOES: Skate Urbanism feat. Leo Valls

Why This Matters for Skatehive

One of the main themes of the festival is skateable sculptures, which connects directly to the Nounstacle project — a collaboration that Skatehive and Gnars have been building to merge art, play, and public space.

I plan to showcase the Nounstacle map and concept video, originally supported by Skatehive and Gnars:

Interestingly, one of the sculptures at the event resembles the $HIGHER logo — which inspired me to film “Skatehive vs. Higher”, a collab video to be published on Skatehive’s Zora account. With support from both communities, this piece could easily generate more value than the proposal amount through post rewards and sales.

I’ll also gather footage for what could become Skatehive DAO’s first droposal film, capturing the bridge between skate culture, art, and decentralized collaboration.

Connections and Outreach

During the festival, I’ll reconnect with long-time friends and collaborators such as Sérgio Santoro and Mike Mag, both key figures in Brazil’s skate scene.

This is a unique chance to onboard and connect new creators to Skatehive — people who share the same vision of open, community-driven skate media.

Budget Request

300 USDC
→ To help to cover train transportation and shared Airbnb accommodation costs. (which is way more costful than that, I am also investing in this trip extension)

→ Twin proposal will be posted on Gnars

Closing Cycle

A droposal will be created on skatehive dao where the proceeds will be sent automagically to a split contract between skatehive and Gnars, those proceeds will be sent to a Diversifier contract that will buy $Gnars, $Skatehive and $higher for both daos.

All content and updates will be posted on Skatehive, Zora, and Farcaster.

Droposal -> Split Contract -> ETH buys Rad Tokens -> Rad tokens sent to Treasure -> Tokens will pump cause this is just the start and we are early.

All content and updates will be posted on Skatehive, Zora, Farcaster and reported in Flows and Propdates section.
