Choose a Project Name & Story

Vote 1 gives the green light to start development on this project using the SUBLAYER concept and create the $TRESR token. However, some in the community have requested we put the project name & story up to a vote.

The "SUBLAYER" project name was written into the initial Discord proposal as a placeholder and the intention was always to let the community come up with a more memetic, "sticky", and memorable project name.

Many have thrown around "phoenix" as an interesting brand concept since we'll be burning $SMRTR to raise our Diamond Tiers [from the ashes] and some of us, internally, have started calling our NFT marketplace the "Phoenix Farm to Market".

With that said, this vote will be multiple choice and confirm a brand concept to move forward with:

Option 1: Move forward with "sublayer" as the project name

Option 2: Create a 5-day call for project name & story submissions in Discord. The top 3 voted names in Discord will move to an on-chain vote

Voting [Option 2] would mean a brief delay on branding-related roadmap items but the development team could still get started building out the technical backend while the community finalizes project brand assets.

Vote 1 has already confirmed the following for our DeFi loop assets:

4. Treasure Boxes
5. NFT Marketplace
6. Raffle Swap

Option 2 creates a call for proposals on project names & stories that map onto the above assets.

Reason for Vote:

—The biggest concern after speaking with several consultants, agencies, and developers is that subnets may not be the best strategy to reach our goals as a protocol (and if we don't use subnet, the "sublayer" name has less context) —Many in the community have expressed an interest in changing the name to something more memetic, catchy, and fun; a brand story that makes it easy to understand —We've had several mention that "sublayer" feels like an infrastructure product and not like a fun P2E DeFi loop and NFT marketplace with phoenix burns, treasure, mystery boxes, and big raffle ticket wins —Our inaugural minimum viable product will be an NFT defi loop and raffle swap marketplace NOT a subnet —Depending on complexity, subnets could take a while to implement, or not be the best way at all for us to quickly implement cross-chain asset bridging —We won't be launching the platform with subnets as a native feature and so the branding may not land immediately with new users —We can always put out a call for new names / branding and have "sublayer" as an option to choose if no other branding / project name resonates —We will keep $TRESR as the new native token per Vote 1

If the community chooses "SUBLAYER" as project name, the core team will work to build the proper brand assets and narrative around SUBLAYER to match our defi loop and marketplace.

Otherwise, we will take proposal submissions from community then vote on new project names in Discord for 5-days, then move Top 3 voted project names to Snapshot for an on-chain confirmation vote.
