NFT Collections Description

Woodies is a decentralized web3 entertainment brand with a collection of 9,739 NFTs. It was released in September 2021 as a collaboration from UltraDAO artists. Offering a mixed model of de/centralized IP ownership, it conveys family-friendly, story-driven artwork and themes supporting nature and conservation. Woodies has also funded a ‘One Million Tree’ campaign with non-profit organization Trees for the Future. Woodies has nurtured a warm and inclusive culture, and is also hosting live outings in real life – hiking, rafting, etc. Congregating in Decentraland offers a way to involve a global community that cannot attend every event, and a way to sustain and deepen the connections our members are already making with one another.

Motivation

Our goal for Woodies in Decentraland is to create immersive and evolving experiences that bring the community together through storytelling, shared interests and goals. The artwork, including the 900+ original traits, has been transformed into the fun aesthetic style of Decentraland and is ready for use as ‘linked wearables’. How cool is it going to be to turn your avatar into a tree-like Woodie and see your 2D Woodie come to life!? We will create a home for Woodies where we can gather for our weekly community meetings, create exhibitions, invite guest speakers such as our partner charities and more. Ultimately Woodies is eager to push the boundaries of what is possible and explore new frontiers for art and engagement in Decentraland.

Method

We created a master file with all traits (hair, nose, mouth, eyes, accessories, clothing, etc), named the 3D objects to match the original collection's 2D attributes, then run a batch script that creates individual 3D skin files with the correct traits based on the 2D counterpart.
