Record and Publish Stargate Community Calls
Issue statement
Stargate Community Calls are not recorded and published. This limits the engagement with the Stargate community and the broader crypto community.
Community calls are only available live on Discord and playback is not natively available via the platform. Alternative techniques to record the Discord calls are not being used out of a desire to get stakeholders to attend calls. However, this is not always possible or preferred for stakeholders.
A large proportion of the Stargate Community are unable to attend community calls due to global time zones, security concerns or other commitments.
In addition, the community calls are only available on one platform. There are over 250,000 followers for the @StargateFinance account on Twitter/X and 422,000 members on Discord. The current audience for these live-only calls are not engaging the maximum possible number of Stargate stakeholders e.g. the 250,000 followers on Twitter/X.
Proposal
Record fortnightly Stargate Community Calls and publish to a range of platforms beyond Discord to maximise audience engagement and support on-demand listening. This could include YouTube Live, X Spaces or other content distribution services.
Budget
A $1.8m annual budget was approved five months ago for the Stargate Foundation with $800k budgeted for Dedicated Support. Part of this Dedicated Support budget was to be used for Community and Marketing, including planning and coordinating community calls. Any expense for recording and publishing these calls should be subsumed by this adequate budget and resources should be redirected to ensuing this critical community engagement channel reaches its maximum audience. Furthermore, making recordings of community calls available to stakeholders should be included in future budgets.
Technical support
Although there is no official way to record Discord calls, third-party apps like Craig Bot, Audacity, OBS, Movavi Screen Recorder etc can easily record voice calls on Discord Server Voice Channels.
Alternatively, use a broadcasting platform that will allow community call recordings can be published on a range of platforms, including Discord and YouTube. Cross platform publishing can be achieved with any number of tools like Crowdfire, Hootsuite, Buffer etc.
Summary
The Stargate Foundation performs critical work on behalf of the Protocol and the mandate of the Stargate DAO. However, many members of the DAO are denied accessing community calls due to the logistics of engaging a global audience. Recording and broadcasting community calls will improve customer, LP, staker and developer engagement.
