Background
At the launch of the Stargate Protocol, thresholds for posting proposals to the community Snapshot (https://snapshot.org/#/stgdao.eth) was set at 150,000 veSTG, with a minimum quorum based on the type of proposal (Core or Protocol). For Core proposals there is a 10% quorum threshold with a 80% support threshold. For Protocol proposals there is a 5% quorum threshold with a 60% support threshold. A full overview of the types of proposals and current voting process can be seen in the following document: https://stargateprotocol.gitbook.io/stargate/v/user-docs/governance/proposals-and-voting
Proposal
The Stargate community should lower the threshold for posting to 50,000 veSTG, with a minimum quorum 2.5% and a 70% support threshold for community proposals. The safeguards around Core proposals should be left intact. This will allow for more community members to post proposals and for a faster community consensus, allowing for ideas the community decides are important to be implemented more quickly. At the same time a higher support threshold will ensure the community is aligned prior to any proposal passing.
Success
A successful implementation will create more activity on Snapshot with a wider array of proposals being suggested and voted on.
Execution
The Stargate Foundation will contact Snapshot to lower the thresholds for Protocol proposals to the agreed upon amount (A 2.5% quorum threshold with a 60% support threshold). Once this is complete, an announcement will be posted in Discord to confirm the action has been taken.
Summary
Stargate voting thresholds should be lowered to allow a wider array of people to post proposals for community voting. This will allow for a larger number of proposals to be posted and increased participation from the Stargate community.
