[AWE#11] Move AWE Governance Discussion Back to Discord

Summary

This proposal suggests moving the governance discussion stage for AWE proposals back to Discord, while keeping the rest of the governance process unchanged.

Snapshot voting, proposal requirements, voting timelines, quorum, execution processes, and all other governance rules remain the same. The only change is where early-stage proposal discussion happens.

Motivation

AWE governance currently uses Discourse for proposal discussion, but this has added friction to the process.

Most of the community already spends time in Discord, and moving discussion back there would make governance easier to follow, easier to participate in, and faster to coordinate around.

The goal is not to change governance itself. The goal is to streamline the discussion flow so more contributors can engage before proposals move to Snapshot.

Proposal Details

If approved, governance discussions will move from Discourse back to Discord.

The updated process would be:

1. Proposal ideas and early drafts are shared in the relevant governance channel on Discord.
2. Community members discuss, ask questions, and suggest improvements directly in Discord.
3. Once the discussion period is complete, proposals that are ready can move to Snapshot.
4. Snapshot voting and all existing governance requirements remain unchanged.

This proposal does not change:

• Snapshot voting
• Voting power
• Quorum requirements
• Voting duration
• Proposal eligibility
• Proposal execution process
• Any existing governance rights or responsibilities

Only the discussion stage changes.

Expected Benefits

Moving governance discussion back to Discord should:

• Reduce friction for contributors
• Increase community participation
• Make proposal feedback easier to track in real time
• Speed up coordination between contributors, delegates, and the broader community
• Keep governance closer to where the AWE community is already active

Implementation

If this proposal passes, the AWE governance discussion process will be updated so that future proposal discussions happen in Discord instead of Discourse.

A dedicated governance discussion channel can be used to keep proposal conversations organized. Proposal authors should clearly label their posts with the proposal title, summary, and discussion timeline.
