OpenRarity utilization vote!

Voting ended over 3 years agoFailed

This Snapshot is a simple majority vote for the team to implement the growing industry-standard rarity system being developed by OpenRarity.dev (CoolCats, Moonbirds, etc. have adopted) ON ALL SVS NFT Collections. There is a toggle in OpenSea the team can turn on so that rarity ranking shows right next to the NFT in OS.

The OpenRarity developer will be providing the SVS community with the rarity rankings of the Gen 1 collection when including “Trait Counts” by Oct 8th so we can see how it looks . The goal will be to work with the developer to closely as possible match the historical Rarity.tools methodology to minimize rating changes. HOEVER, SOME RATING CHANGES ARE INEVITABLE.

Specifically, this proposal is for:

  • The SVS team to turn on the OS “Toggle” on October 31 or Nov 1, coupled with an announcement related to utilizing the “OpenRarity.dev” standard. Ideally, the Metadata on ALL collections will be updated to include “Trait Count” such that the same total traits are utilized for rarity as were used by Rarity.tools, minimizing differences
  • the implementation date allows those who want to sell or buy vamps pre-rarity reveal on OS the opportunity to do so
  • the implementation time allows Freddy time to make adjustments to Metadata and BloodBag revisions

PROS:

  • COST: 0.00 ETH
  • Visibility in OS and increased sales via those wanting to buy underpriced rarity items
  • Basing Rarity on specific metadata that cannot be changed forever rather than Rarity.Tools that also uses non-metadata criteria
  • moving to Industry-standard & simplicity for potential buyers to look up / see rarity on SVS NFTs

CONS:

  • Ratings might change for the better or worse for each NFT, but typically within 5% or so rarity
  • Rarity.Tools uses some proprietary rating methodologies, which cannot be replicated by metadata, so this will be lost. For example if you have one rare trait but all others are common, then rating might fall a bit.
  • There will be some disappointed SVS holders and there will be some thrilled SVS holders
