[SIP-13] Symbiosis Growth Strategy: Why TRON Should Be Next on the List

Voting ended over 2 years agoSucceeded

Context

Understanding TRON's evolution and capabilities is essential to evaluating its potential role in the Symbiosis protocol.

TRON's mainnet was launched on May 31, 2018. Its primary objectives are to offer developers a platform for crafting dApps and to enable users to share and spread content throughout a worldwide network of devices.

Thanks to its consensus mechanism based on Delegated Proof-of-Stake (DPoS), TRON boasts the capacity to process over 2,000 transactions per second (TPS). This rate significantly outpaces many other blockchain networks.

Structurally, the TRON network draws comparisons to the Ethereum platform. However, it has faced criticism for perhaps "borrowing" too heavily from foundational aspects, instead of innovatively constructing its base.

The team behind TRON has been proactive in forming partnerships and integrating with various platforms and services. For instance, several popular stablecoins have either been launched on or integrated with the TRON blockchain. To highlight this, data from Tether indicates that over 60% of USDT's circulation is presently issued on the TRON network

Proposal

Integrate TRON to the Symbiosis protocol. The integration involves the following steps:

  • The stablecoin on TRON to operate will be…. of course USDT!
  • Add support for the new blockchain to the Symbiosis protocol: the new stablecoin should be added to the Symbiosis AMM DEX on the host chain, and the Symbiosis relayer network should start working with the newly added blockchain.
  • Deploy and tune Symbiosis contracts on the TRON network.
  • Add routing over existing DEXes on the TRON network.

Main Points

  • One of TRON's strengths lies in its ability to process transactions rapidly at relatively low fees. Such efficiency holds appeal for exchanges and traders, especially in volatile market conditions.
  • TRON is rich in liquidity and active organizations and individuals. This makes this blockchain network a very prominent candidate to bring good value to the Symbiosis protocol.
  • TRON is not EVM compliant. On the one hand, it requires some additional efforts for successful integration. On the other hand, these are challenges that make life more interesting and richer in all senses.
