[SIP-26] Integrating Taiko: Elevating Symbiosis with Based Rollup Technology

Voting ended over 1 year agoSucceeded

Context

The emergence of new Layer 2 (L2) solutions for Ethereum highlights the ongoing search for pathways and algorithms that address the challenges faced by developers and users.

Taiko is a based rollup L2 solution for Ethereum. Unlike many other rollup solutions with separate, centralized transaction management mechanisms, Taiko uses the Ethereum mainnet (L1) and its validators for sequencing and validating transactions.

While centralized sequencers may offer faster transaction processing, Taiko’s approach prioritizes enhanced scalability, decentralization, and security, providing significant advantages for the network.

The network fully supports Ethereum’s core properties: censorship resistance, permissionlessness, and security.

Proposal

Enable support for Taiko in the Symbiosis protocol to enhance Symbiosis DeFi offerings with this advanced Layer 2 solution. The integration includes the following:

  • Add support for the new blockchain to the Symbiosis protocol. This involves adding the USDC and WETH in the Symbiosis AMM DEX on the host chain. At the same time, the Symbiosis relayer network should start working with the new blockchain.
  • Deploy and tune Symbiosis contracts on Taiko.
  • Implement on-chain routing via existing DEXes on Taiko.

Key points

  • This new L2 solution can attract developers and users who prioritize security and censorship resistance.
  • As an EVM-compatible chain, Taiko can be seamlessly integrated into the Symbiosis protocol, ensuring a smooth transition and immediate benefits.
