[SIP-46] Cutting Across Chains: Katana Meets Symbiosis

Voting ended 7 months agoSucceeded

Context

Katana Network is a DeFi-focused Layer 2 blockchain developed by Polygon Labs and GSR, designed to improve liquidity and yield generation across decentralized finance applications.

The network is built using Polygon’s AggLayer infrastructure, enabling native interoperability with other AggLayer-connected chains. Katana’s execution layer is based on an Optimism-derived rollup, with finality and withdrawal speed enhanced through zero-knowledge proofs provided by Succinct Labs.

Katana launched on private mainnet in May 2025, with full public access scheduled for late June 2025.

Core applications at launch include:

  • Morpho for optimized lending and borrowing,
  • Sushi for spot trading liquidity,
  • Vertex for capital-efficient perpetuals trading.

Proposal

Enable support for Katana within the Symbiosis protocol. The integration includes the following steps:

  • Deploying and tuning Symbiosis contracts on Katana to ensure smooth operation.
  • Adding token for Katana in the Symbiosis AMM DEX on the host chain: wETH
  • Leveraging the Sushi DEX on Katana to enable on-chain routing.
  • Activating the Symbiosis Relayers Network to work with Katana.

Key Points

  • Katana’s mainnet launch is likely to attract strong community activity and liquidity, making early Symbiosis support well-timed.
  • EVM compatibility allows seamless integration into Symbiosis, enabling instant cross-chain swaps and broader token access.
