Permutation 8 - Hashes DAO Strategic Advisory Board

Permutation 8 The Hashes DAO Strategic Advisory Board is a new permutation that will crystallize a Hashes DAO strategy for the near term (6-12 months) as well as set out a longer term vision for the Hashes DAO (3+ years).

Primary Goals -Develop a high level DAO strategic plan -New Permutation planning

Secondary Goals -Test a DAO Hash buyback program -Legal diligence

Why are we proposing this? The team behind Permutation 8 represents the active contributors to the DAO over the last year. We have proposed and run Permutations 1, 2, 3, 5, 6, and 7. We are avid collectors, developers, business strategists, tinkerers, and investors.

The Hashes DAO has an incredible opportunity ahead: with over 500 ETH in treasury, a respectable collection of NFTs from elite artists and projects such as Refik Anadol, Nick Kuder, Botto, & Art Blocks, a team of capable developers, successful activation of digital art into physical form, we have a solid foundation to position the DAO to be an important part of the NFT community as the next Bull appears.

The time is right to buidl and hodl. Given our resources, the Hashes DAO can position itself to expand its collection of important grails (at attractive valuations) and become a stronger voice in the generative and grails communities.

The biggest challenge is that there currently is no cohesive vision to guide our future activities. This description via the Hashes website (October 2021) is stale and not prescriptive:

What is the budget? Permutation 8 is requesting a 56 ETH budget for:

-25 ETH - an initial 3-month term of the Strategic Advisory Board, comprised of @quimp, @hashhodler, @deebee, @cookedcookee, and @sydneyjason -25 ETH - Buyback - test out a DAO Hashes buyback program -3 ETH - Legal Diligence - review of the facts and circumstances of the Hashes DAO to put a simple legal structure in place
-2 ETH - Miscellaneous -1 ETH - payment for development work for Perm 6 (this was successfully proposed by @quimp & completed by @dmath, but unfunded in the original Permutation 6 budget)

Funds will go to a 3/5 multisig controlled by the Strategic Advisory Board members. Unspent funds from any initiative will remain in the multisig and only spent for work done for the DAO.

• Develop near-term operating plan (6-12 months) in the context of a long term, high level strategic plan (3+ years)

• Develop Development & Platform Thesis
• Develop Recommendations for Treasury Management
• Future Permutations expected to launch based on this Strategic planning

Strategic Advisory Board - Strategic questions to answer: - How to position the Hashes DAO over the next 3+ years? i.e. what objectives are we aiming towards and what is our mission? - Differentiation: what is unique about the Hashes vs other DAOs? - What hypotheses do we want to test with our resources? - How does the NFT collection support the Hashes DAO's objectives? - How does the platform support the Hashes DAO's objectives?

- Collection Roadmap - Provide guidance and a set of objectives for additional collecting activities (i.e. extensions to Perm 1) - Explore Physical & Digital Activations of current collection - Explore Partnership opportunities (art galleries, other DAOs, etc)

- Development Roadmap - Evaluate current platform assets vs. market competitors - Suggest extensions to platform vs. new products - Recommendations for updating the website

- Treasury & Budget Management - Explore & recommend cost effective Treasury Management solutions with an emphasis on simplicity and avoidance of third-party smart contract risk - Formalize multisig control procedures & notifications - Compile and publish a high level accounting of previous Permutation expenses with a quarterly view.

- Legal Wrapper - What is a simple, cost-effective legal wrapper for the Hashes DAO?

- Future Strategic Advisory Board Composition - Develop process & cadence to choose/reelect members: i.e. Snapshot vote by DAO community

-Buyback Operations - Develop a simple buyback operation for DAO Hashes, capped at 25 ETH - DAO Hashes will be purchased at market clearing prices, primarily via collection offers announced at least 24 hours in advance - The acquired DAO Hashes will become a strategic asset of the DAO to incentivize future collaborators, artists, partnerships, etc
