Summary

There are many times when events are happening and people want to be able to just teleport there. While portals are a great way to get from point A to point B, and hub networks are developing, they are not everywhere.

Having a subscription service for using the /tp command (or similar across other platforms) to travel to any specific coordinates immediately would generate revenue for the DAO, enable freedom of quick movement, and not give an in-game advantage.

If possible, this subscription service would be restricted to the overworld due to the potential for exploits and advantages in the nether and the end.

This subscription would be available for WAX, ETH, and fiat. For the purpose of determining fair subscription prices, the cost of Upliftium has been used as a base rate. However, since the purpose of this proposal is to generate runway for the DAO, Upliftium (which is burned for services) will not be accepted as a payment currency.

Based on an estimated price of 15 WAX for 1 million crystalized Upliftium, which is higher than the current floor of 13.99 WAX and lower than the highest ask on the first page of search results of 17.78 WAX, a portal costs approximately 150 WAX. Because teleportation offers greater flexibility, a starting price for the subscription would be between 50 and 70 million Upliftium, or between 750 and 1,050 WAX, or between $88.50 and $123.90 USD at current rates. I’m including an option for subscriptions to start at the same monthly cost as one portal installation, even though I (Jen) think it’s too low.

For ease of marketing purposes, the USD numbers would be rounded up to the nearest five ($20, $90, $110, $125), and ETH would be rounded up to the nearest whole decimal point (0.01, 0.05, 0.06, 0.07). Rounding the numbers up makes them easier to understand and remember. A table of subscription rates, then, would look like this:

When these options are presented for voting, this table will accompany the proposal as an image and the vote choice numbers and corresponding USD will be used.

Subscription rates would be per month, resulting in a potential per-user revenue of between $240 and $1,500 per user.

Subscriptions will need to be prepaid for a minimum of 3 months before they will be activated.

Potential Downsides

1. People could get into secure areas.
2. Having access to /tp or similar might be a security risk?
3. There are opportunities for advantages in the nether and end, so it would have to be able to be turned off in both places.

Timeline for Implementation

This could be implemented almost immediately via a process similar to the Upliftium Services form, with a field for a transaction ID showing payment has been made.

From a maximal perspective, this subscription would be set up via theuplift.world website, all currencies would be accepted, and payments would be processed at the time of requesting the service - i.e. the service form would have a place for a transaction ID showing proof of payment before it is turned on.

Developers Responsible for Implementation

For a minimum viable product, Jen can make a form. If we’re going to be slightly fancier than that and use theuplift.world for the form, we would probably need Dennis to be involved.

In order to accept fiat, the proposal requires Corey to set up Stripe and Dennis to integrate into the website. Jen is suggesting the proposal and accepts responsibility for tracking the payments. Someone like Dr. Wayne or Norman would be required to turn on the permissions in game. Jen is willing to take on that responsibility as well, if being granted the permissions to do so is not a major headache. Sadisty is probably a better person for this job, again if it’s not too much of a headache to set up.
