Background
Two volunteer teams, each consisting of two members, will be attending ETH Denver next month to represent and promote the Unlock Protocol.
ETH Denver is one of the largest Web3 events, offering a valuable platform to engage with the community, network with key stakeholders, and increase awareness of Unlock Protocol.
This proposal requests a reimbursement of up to $2,000 to help cover the majority of the lodging expenses incurred by the volunteers.
While not all team members may attend for the full duration of the event, their efforts will directly support the DAO’s presence and visibility.
Benefits
Reimbursing these expenses will benefit the DAO in several key ways:
• Community Engagement: The volunteers will organically engage with the Web3 community, sharing the benefits of Unlock Protocol and creating meaningful connections.
• Increased Awareness: Unlock Protocol will be actively represented at ETH Denver, enhancing its visibility and reputation in the Web3 ecosystem.
• Strategic Networking: The volunteers will connect with developers, creators, and organizations that could lead to collaborations and partnerships aligned with the DAO’s goals.
This initiative supports Unlock Protocol’s strategic objectives without requiring significant upfront investment.
Risks
The primary risk is setting a precedent for reimbursing volunteer costs, which could lead to more requests in the future. This can be mitigated by establishing clear criteria for similar proposals going forward.
Additionally, the reimbursement amount requested is capped at $2,000 and will only cover documented and verified lodging expenses, ensuring financial responsibility.
Timeline and Implementation • Event Dates: February 23–March 2, 2025 (ETH Denver). • Lodging Period: February 22–March 3, 2025 (to accommodate travel and event attendance). • Not all volunteers may stay for the full event, and reimbursement will only cover lodging for the specific dates of their stay. • Reimbursement Request Timeline: • Receipts and specific lodging dates will be submitted within 7 days after the event. • Reimbursement, if approved, will be processed within 14 days of approval.
Resources • Requested Lodging Reimbursement: $2,000 (to cover most lodging expenses for both teams). • Accommodation Details: Cambria Hotel Denver Downtown RiNo for two groups of two volunteers. • Additional Resources: DAO-provided materials will be used to ensure consistent and effective representation of Unlock Protocol.
This proposal requests approval for lodging reimbursement for volunteer teams representing Unlock Protocol DAO at ETH Denver. By supporting this initiative, the DAO ensures strong representation at a key Web3 event while maintaining financial responsibility.
