The Signals Officer, also known as the Marketing & Communication Steward, is a crucial role within the Unlock Protocol DAO Council. This position is responsible for overseeing and executing the DAO's marketing and communication strategies, ensuring effective engagement with the community, and promoting the DAO's mission and projects to a wider audience. This role has been successfully established by other DAOs such as MakerDAO, MetaCartel and DAOhaus. Most of these also guide a working group responsible for creating and implementing marketing strategies, managing public relations, and fostering community onboarding and engagement. Managing and overseeing this working group's operations is one of the primary responsibilities of this position.

As the Signals Officer of Unlock DAO, the applicant must fulfill the following qualification criteria.
The Signals Officer's responsibilities consist of various managerial and hands-on tasks. They can always be adjusted through an adjusted proposal and a DAO off-chain vote. The role is part of the DAO Council and should consist of a minimum of 30 hours per week to fulfill the responsibilities. Some of the key responsibilities include:
KPIs or key performance indicators help keep track of the success of the Signals Officer role. Although part of a council of course, collective work will always level up everyone’s success. Here are some proposed tools to measure the roles' success:
Community Growth: Monthly increase in active community members and adoption of Unlock Protocol.
Content Performance: Reach and engagement metrics for published content over a period of multiple months focusing on long term success.
Brand Awareness: Increase in brand mentions and sentiment across social media channels.
Proposal Success Rate: Percentage of marketing proposals approved by the DAO as well as the implementation rate of approved proposals.
Market Position (shared goal with other DAO Council Members): Improve Unlock Protocol's ranking among competing projects and increase the number of projects or platforms integrating Unlock Protocol.
Governance Participation (shared goal with other DAO Council Members): Increase in the number of DAO members participating in governance decisions and voter turnout for key proposals.
This position is not indefinite and should undergo periodic evaluation. A recommended timeframe could be every six to twelve months. The DAO can propose a change in the role or position and its holder through an off-chain DAO vote at any point in time.
