Background

With our move from Ethereum to Base, our new token is not yet established, and we still have more room to cover to be Unlock Protocol known and used by everyone. An active and incentivized ambassador program should help with this

Guidelines

Welcome to the Unlock Protocol Ambassador Program! As an ambassador, you play a crucial role in promoting our mission and engaging with the community. This guide is designed to provide you with clear instructions, incentives, and support to ensure a successful experience.

Ambassador Role and Responsibilities

In general, the role of an ambassador (no matter the level) doesn't change. We expect you to represent the protocol and community of Unlock in four key areas and in alignment with the DAO Culture Guide:

Engagement: Actively participate in discussions on social media and community forums. Content Creation: Create and share informative content about Unlock Protocol. Event Participation: Attend and represent Unlock Protocol at events and meetups. Feedback Loop: Provide insights and feedback from the community to the Unlock team.

Application Criteria

Since we are a DAO, we don't have many criteria for new ambassadors, but some criteria help us ensure that this position is filled by people who share our passions.

• We need you to be committed to Unlock Protocol and, specifically, the Unlock DAO Culture Guide. Our values should align!
• You require some experience in the Web3 space, handling a wallet and speaking with ease about NFTs, why they matter, utility, and so on.
• As an ambassador, we need you to be outgoing, able to strike up conversations at events, and not being shy.
• Since a lot in life happens online, we ask you to ensure your social media presence is established. We are not asking for millions of followers, but it should be a crowd of people you speak to, not a single person.
• Lastly, be visible to other communities on a regular basis. Cross-pollination in a small space is a very meaningful thing, and with your help, we want to make use of it.

Onboarding

Read through the application criteria for new ambassadors before applying and receiving an official onboarding as a new ambassador through an active DAO Contributor or a fellow ambassador (Level 3)!

The onboarding for new ambassadors consists of the following four steps:

• A one-on-one or group call with an active DAO Contributor or higher tier ambassador (please reach out on Discord).
• A short onboarding journey that enables you to grasp better what Unlock Protocol offers its users.
• Your dedicated Discord badge and a Level 1 Ambassador Badge called "Seafarer Ambassador" (simulatnously this badge is also a HatsProtocol NFT and allows the owner to be part of the official organizational diagram of Unlock DAO) issued with Unlock Protocol.

Ambassador Levels

In the Unlock community, there are three levels of ambassadors. Every new ambassador starts at the first level and then works their way through the different stages. Ambassadors keep their achieved role for two seasons. Seasons are intervals of 6 months. This helps to keep track of people actively participating over those who don't. Each ambassador stage has a specific threshold and comes with its official NFT badge and other possible incentives.

Level 1 - Seafarer Ambassador

An adventurer is beginning to explore Unlock Protocol and representing it in small but consistent ways, such as personal posts, quoted reposts, etc.

Tasks:

• Complete onboarding training
• Share and quote repost content from official Unlock social media accounts
• Create your own locks for your projects and communities you are involved in and lead by example
• Attend the weekly Town Hall or DAO Calls to be up-to-date

Incentives:

• Welcome package (stickers & T-Shirt)
• Receive the official Hat for being a Seafarer Ambassador with Unlock DAO (100 points)
• Off-chain voting rights through your membership NFT
• Eligibility for monthly retroQF

Eligibility criteria for Level 2:

• A minimum of 3 months of active and consistent performance with the Seafarer Tasks
• Secure regular speaker spots at relevant events (personal and virtual events/ podcasts). The idea is to secure one relevant speaker spot over the course of 3 months.
• Bring your work to the DAO's attention by posting your contributions regularly in the

Level 2 - Harbormaster Ambassador

An ambassador who manages and nurtures the wider community and relations by sharing their contacts with Unlock DAO and Unlock Labs to develop stronger bonds in the space.

Tasks:

• Everything from Level 1 tier
• Be a speaker at relevant events and publicly speak about Unlock Protocol about every three months (can be virtual and in person)
• Create at least one long-form piece of content (medium, LinkedIn, Paragraph, Mirror, etc.) per month
• Actively engage in conversations with potential partner projects and forward those to the Unlock Labs team
• Give workshops or online and freely accessible demos about Unlock Protocol

Incentives:

• Upgrade package (hat or beanie)
• Receive the official Hat for being a Harbormaster Ambassador with Unlock DAO
• Off-chain voting rights through your membership NFT (200 points)
• Unlock DAO offers an official Ambassador UP token pool from which incentives will be provided to active members in a retroQF manner. The pool will be installed every two months and carries 500k UP.
• Potential recognition on the Unlock social media accounts for outstanding performance

Eligibility criteria for Level 3:

• A minimum of 3 months of active and consistent performance with the Harbormaster Tasks
• Secure regular speaker spots at relevant events (personal and virtual events/ podcasts). The idea is to secure one relevant speaker spot every two months.
• Have given at least one workshop or demo to a group of people who are ready to get started with Unlock Protocol
• Bring your work to the DAO's attention by posting your contributions regularly in the #events and #social channels

Level 3 - Commodore Ambassador

A distinguished lead ambassador overseeing multiple initiatives and mentoring fellow ambassadors

Tasks:

• Everything from the above two tiers
• Be a speaker at relevant events and publicly speak about Unlock Protocol about every two months (can be virtual and in person)
• Create at least one long-form piece of content (medium, LinkedIn, Paragraph, Mirror, etc.) per month
• Actively engage in conversations with potential partner projects
• Organize community events in your area and beyond
• Mentor fellow ambassadors

Incentives:

• Upgrade package (hoodie) and a customized piece of merchandise with all three ambassador-level badges
• Receive the official Hat for being a Harbormaster Ambassador with Unlock DAO
• Off-chain voting rights through your membership NFT (300 points)
• Potential recognition on the Unlock social media accounts for outstanding performance
• Unlock DAO offers an official Ambassador UP token pool from which incentives will be provided to active members in a retroQF manner. The pool will be installed every two months and carries 500k UP. The idea is that active Ambassadors list their work accomplishments and the community votes for their allocations while the treasury itself can also be named as a recipient.

Actions

After the proposal goes through the following things need to be established:

• Adding the above to our official website
• Ensuring that the 500k pool will be available
• Officially announcing an open season for applications
• Actively promote the ambassador program on spaces and socials
• Create the onboarding journey and ensure all materials future ambassadors need are available.
• Merchandise items are in place for ordering
