Redesigning Governance Councils to Better Align with Ecosystem Needs
This proposal seeks community consensus to revise the council structure originally outlined in the WalletConnect whitepaper. Based on extensive feedback from the community and a reassessment of ecosystem priorities, we propose establishing a UX Council as the core working group, to cover the originally proposed Technical Council and Partnerships Council.
The original whitepaper proposed forming two councils—Technical and Partnerships Councils—to support the governance and development of the WalletConnect ecosystem. However, feedback highlighted the need for a more comprehensive and inclusive approach that incorporates both technical and non-technical viewpoints.
We propose creating a UX Council comprising key contributors from the WalletConnect ecosystem, representing diverse expertise across technical and non-technical domains. The UX Council will serve as a forum to discuss, propose, and collaborate on initiatives and upgrades critical to the network's growth.
Within the UX Council, members will also elect representatives to participate in two specialized committees:
These committees will operate with more frequent meetings to address their specific mandates, ensuring agility and deeper collaboration.
We encourage all stakeholders to participate in the upcoming vote and share their thoughts on this redesigned council structure, which aims to better serve our growing ecosystem.
This proposal will initiate a governance vote to seek consensus from the community. If approved, we will outline the process for nominating and electing members to the UX Council and its committees, designed for transparency and alignment with WalletConnect’s mission.
