Abstract During the first Town Hall on Discord 5/30/23, Benni presented an idea for a Small Grants Committee. The formation of the committee will allow for rapid funding of community initiatives for marketing and other $WEN community related expenses.
Specifications The Committee will be composed of 6 individuals that will be responsible for reviewing requests for funds, deliberating with the committee regarding each request, approving the release of the funds, and tracking the use and effectiveness of the funds. The committee will also provide transparency to the community via Discord and Twitter. Grant proposals will only be considered from $WEN holders with a balance of 169M $WEN or more.
The Committee must create a process for fielding funding requests, creating tasks with an offer of funding, and communication processes for keeping the community informed.
A Gnosis Multi-Sig Wallet will be created with 6 signers. This wallet will require a minimum of 4 signers to approve a transaction. We request the wallet be funded by the DAO with 5 ETH to start. The funding will come from proceeds of Wenmemes and Wenners NFT projects. No funds from the current WENDAO treasury ($WEN) will be used for this proposal. Future funding shall be achieved by submitting proposals on snapshot and shall be voted by the community.
This proposal nominates the following individuals to be placed on the Small Grants Committee: Benni (Mod) Macs (Mod) Benji (Mod) Jessica (Mod) SydInd (DAO Member) J (Mod)
An election for a new committee shall be held at the end of Q3 2023 and Bi-annually after that. The new election will have a self-nomination and voting process by the community. This will allow the community to decide the worthiness of the candidates moving forward.
Consensus This proposal will be live for review, comment and voting for 5 days. It will be a simple for or against vote.
Motivation and Benefit We submit that a Small Grants Committee and Multi-sig wallet will create instant utility, provide the ability for easy funding of community projects, marketing, and other community initiatives.
Drawbacks A multisig wallet has the inherent drawback of requiring multiple signatures and requires trust which we do not take lightly, but this is also a benefit since 1 signer cannot make decisions with funds. We have nominated community members that have a significant time investment in the project and are extremely active in the community. Each Multisig wallet transaction requires 4 of the 6 signatures each transaction.
Final Words More details and procedures for the Small Grants Committee will be documented and shared with the community as the infrastructure is built out. Any changes to this initial structure as stated here must be revised in a future proposal.
Vote All Nominees named here will abstain from voting on this proposal since they are nominated in this proposal. They have delegated their votes to Benni to allow the posting of this proposal and Benni will vote “Abstain”
For - Formalizes the creation of the Small Grants Committee and elects the nominees as signers and stewards of the mutli-sig wallet. The multi-sig wallet will be initially funded with 5 ETH from the DAO funds as stated above.
Against - Back to the drawing board. A new proposal must be authored and submitted by $WEN holders.
