Creation of a Treasury Reserve / Monthly Operating Budget / Petty ETH Allowance

Voting ended almost 4 years agoSucceeded

The sustainability of the DAO is essential and there are two factors that are addressed within this proposal: 1.) Protect the DAO's future, and 2.) Streamline the operation of the key functions of the DAO. There are 3 items that are to be decided on within this proposal and they have been consolidated because each is a pillar upon which we will achieve the above goals:

  • The creation of a 50 ETH reserve will earmark necessary funds to ensure that the DAO has the ability to continue with operations under any circumstances. This will also provide runway for the organization once the minting of Wizards has ceased. Pro - Guaranteed continuity. Con - 50 ETH locked up within the Treasury means reduced degenerate spending ability.

  • Establish operating budget of up to 5 ETH a month to be used for recurring expenses (flexibility is key here and we don't expect a consistent 5 ETH/ month. Pro - Quick action can be taken without snapshots/ recurring costs can be paid effortlessly. Con - Some level of centralization

  • Petty ETH discretionary expenses approved for up to .5 ETH monthly on items deemed beneficial for the DAO (for instance - stickers). The petty ETH (replenished quarterly) reserve will be stored in a separate multi-sig wallet with 3 of 5 signatures required. Examples of items eligible for funding from the reserve include, but are not limited to the following: shipping costs, stickers, ads, commissioned art work, etc. Pro - More agility within the DAO, Con - Additional complexity to the treasury function

This proposal will position the DAO to operate more effectively and provide a sense of security to the community that we have the resources for survival beyond the end of minting.
