Hey everyone!
I just wanted to bring some additional perspective to the idea of moving governance away from xLoot to $PLAT. I feel like in the excitement of launching our own token, that some important concepts about governance may have been overlooked.
Why do you hold xLoot? I hold xLoot because I believe in the future of our ecosystem where holding it is a gateway to amazing metaverse and gaming activities, and that it gives me the ability to participate in the direction of the project. You may hold xLoot for different reasons, including speculative future value - which I understand and am ok with since I hold many NFTs for the same reason.
Whatever your reason, think about the concept of removing a large chunk of value from your xLoot and placing it in $PLAT - a token that would be open to anyone regardless of their interest or investment in the xLoot ecosystem. By moving governance to $PLAT you are placing the direction of the xLoot project in the hands of the open market, and not with the people who really want to see the success of our community. This also creates room for more manipulation, as people who want to affect the xLoot project could manipulate the $PLAT market which would also affect governance. If xLoot remains the governance token, someone would have to buy and hold a lot of xLoot to do this - making manipulation expensive and with less liquidity to exit.
Also, by moving governance to $PLAT you are separating value from the future xLoot ecosystem. As the xLoot ecosystem grows and more tangible projects/products are built on top of it, owning xLoot and being able to vote for its direction becomes increasingly valuable, especially if any projects pop-up that create a burning mechanism for xLoot, thereby reducing the supply.
I think everyone should really consider the long term value of xLoot retaining its governance properties. Even if you hold xLoot for speculation only, and with $PLAT coming you will have an even better ability to get a return on or exit your xLoot position if you so desire - where governance lies doesn't impact that process. If you hold xLoot for the long term vision, you should absolutely want to keep your voting power with your assets.
