Proposal: Open the project's github

Voting ended about 4 years agoSucceeded

[ BACKGROUND ]

There has been much speculation about the activities of Rocky and his development team, with accusations that there has been little to no development done since the market crash in April/May 2021.

The project has suffered a succession of missed deadlines, broken promises, faulty code and poor strategy. This has contributed to the collapse in token prices for both YFDAI and SSGTx.

[ PROPOSAL ]

This proposal is that Rocky should make the github repository public for the entire project codebase: YFDAI, SSGT, SSGTx, Trading Bot, SafeSwap DEX, UX/UI frontend etc. so that investors can make an informed decision about whether to buy and/or continue to hold the tokens.

As YFDAI is a DAO, Rocky has committed in the Telegram Governance group to follow the outcome of the community's vote.

[ ANALYSIS ]

Many projects choose to run open repositories. This comes with benefits and drawbacks:

Some benefits:

  • Increase investor confidence in the progress of the project, by tracking number and frequency of commits, gauging the development team size, getting a feel for the amount of testing that is happening etc.
  • Possibility for the community to find bugs before they become embarrassing failures
  • Possibility for the community to propose new features or even contribute to the code base on a valuntary basis
  • End the toxic negativity in the Telegram groups once and for all

Some drawbacks:

  • Possibility for other projects to steal the code, for example YFDAI's SafeSwap is a fork of Uniswap
  • Potential threat to any competitive advantage that might exist
