Closing the Softmint -> Hardmint Feature

Voting ended over 1 year agoSucceeded

We would like to end the era of soft-minted OG Yunipals. To achieve this, we need to close the hard-minting feature. The motivation for this is multifaceted:

  1. There are Ethereum L2s that are inexpensive enough to allow us to airdrop all soft-minted monsters as "real" NFTs.
  2. Maintaining the hard-minting feature requires ongoing frontend and backend maintenance.
  3. No one actually wants soft-minted NFTs because they can’t be traded.

Now, the question is: If we airdrop soft-minted Yunipals anyway, should we potentially “clone” all monsters (including all hard-minted monsters, Exomon, Binance Babies, etc.) via an airdrop? This means we would take a snapshot e.g. on the 30th of September and then airdrop all monsters on the 1st of October on Base. Monsters will be airdropped 1:1 to the addresses they are currently associated with, except for Exomon. Exomon holders will need to connect an EVM wallet with their Binder Battles account to receive Exomon on Base. The airdrop will be free for users but must be triggered manually by signing a message.

The target chain will be Base (probably). The current NFTs will remain on their respective chains, and users will receive a clone of their NFT on the target chain.

Any future developments involving NFTs will be exclusive to the NFTs on Base, while the old NFTs will remain as collectibles.

To vote: We airdropped an ERC20 token representing your Binder Battles score on Base (token address = 0xc525A3b242DAf70A2CdDcE1Dd30eB635eFbEcFa2). Only the top 3,333 Binder Battlers have received the airdrop (if they had a connected EVM address).
