Proposal Summary

This proposal seeks to establish an Eco Fund under the zkLink ecosystem. Currently, 22.5% of ZKL tokens are allocated for ecosystem development, with 2% already earmarked for ecosystem grants. The proposed Eco Fund will operate under different mandate compared to the existing Eco Grant program, with the specific allocation for the Eco Fund to be determined by a separate vote following this proposal.

Motivation

zkLink Labs has allocated a significant portion of ZKL tokens to encourage growth and innovation within its community through ecosystem development. While Ecosystem Grants focus on supporting projects that integrate directly with zkLink Nova / zkLink X, the Eco Fund is designed to support a broader array of projects, ventures, and partnerships through investment. The Eco Fund aims to strengthen the ecosystem, enhance network effects, support complementary technologies, boost zkLink's global visibility, and foster synergies across the broader blockchain ecosystem.

Specification

Proposal for the zkLink Eco Fund

1. Objective: To establish the zkLink Eco Fund, designed to support a broader array of projects, ventures, and partnerships through investment. This fund aims to enhance zkLink’s network effects as well as fostering synergies across the broader blockchain ecosystem. The fund is also committed to support the wider blockchain technology innovation.

2. Funding Allocation: The specific allocation for the Eco Fund will be determined through a subsequent round of voting, ensuring community engagement and approval in determining the size of the fund from the already allocated 22.5% of ZKL tokens for ecosystem development.

3. Management and Oversight: The management structure for the Eco Fund will be outlined, detailing the governance processes for funding decisions, including selection criteria, monitoring, and performance evaluation of funding projects.

Next Steps

1. Community Voting: Should the proposal be approved, a subsequent vote will be initiated to decide the specific percentage of the 22.5% ZKL allocation to be directed towards the Eco Fund.

2. Implementation: Post-voting, if the establishment of the Eco Fund is approved, detailed governance and management structures will be developed and shared with the community for further inputs and finalization.
